We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to oversee and manage the financial operations of our commercial real estate company. This is a key position that ensures accuracy, compliance, and insight into our financial performance. You will partner closely with our CFO and leadership team to provide high-level financial guidance while mentoring and supporting an Accounting Specialist.
What You’ll Do
Manage all commercial real estate financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Track, allocate, and review revenues and expenses across multiple accounts
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flows)
Lead budget preparation, forecasting, and five-year financial planning
Research and explain budget-to-actual variances for management review
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors on audits and tax filings
Ensure compliance with GAAP, commercial real estate laws, and financial regulations
Prepare annual Building Operating Expenses reports and operating budgets
Oversee payroll processing and serve as backup for the Accounting Specialist
Mentor and supervise the Accounting Specialist, fostering development and efficiency
Collaborate across departments to provide financial analysis and strategic support
Assist CFO with ad-hoc analysis, reporting, and internal control initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
5–10+ years of accounting experience in commercial real estate preferred
Previous Senior Property Accounting for commercial real estate experience a plus
Expertise in commercial real estate accounting software (Sage, Yardi, or MRI) required
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, budgeting, CAM reconciliations, and audit preparation
Previous leadership or people management experience
Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
Proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Payroll system and processing experience a plus
